Aspiring Ballerinas
Mujeres Movimiento-Sayulita currently sponsors a weekend ballet program for local Mexican girls aged 6-17 years old.
The girls’ families, with assistance from Mujeres Movimiento-Sayulita, cover the cost of the classes, and with the help of sponsors, for $75 USD, the aspiring ballerina receives:
2 leotards
2 ballet skirts
1 pair of leather ballet shoes
1 tutu
2 headbands

English Classes
For Children
In 2021, Mujeres Movimiento-Sayulita and Escuela Cooperativa co-sponsored a five-week English language camp, Ingles Divertido, for local children from the public schools in Sayulita.
The camp continues today as an after-school program which serves about 40 children and is taught by bilingual Mexican women.
The curriculum was developed by an expert in the field of teaching English as an additional language and is based primarily on activities. The staff emphasized positive reinforcement and modeled how collaboration and teamwork lead to successful learning.
For Women
In Spring 2023, Mujeres Movimiento-Sayulita debuted an English Language Program for women.
Weekly classes are currently being held to help local women progress in their speaking, reading and writing skills.
You can donate to either one of these programs specifically; be sure to comment that your donation is for the English Classes.
Dinner on Us
Gift Certificates for Families
Mujeres Movimiento is proud of and grateful to Alison Goodman and Shirley Wong for their support of our organization. This mother and daughter team created a gift certificate program with Happy Kitchen Chinese restaurant in Sayulita.
The women and their friends purchase gift certificates to Happy Kitchen and Mujeres Movimiento distributes them to local women who use them to provide a special meal for their family.
To date, 80 certificates have been distributed!

Irma in the Kitchen
Meet Irma, a local cook who has begun cooking for renters here in Sayulita. Through sharing the gift of food, Irma can supplement her income and introduce visitors to wonderful Mexican cuisine.
Mujeres Movimiento has been able to support Irma by advertising her services and coordinating all the logistics, so all she needs to do is focus on her cooking!

Recreational Classes
In 2023, Mujeres Movimiento added several new athletic programs for local women: yoga, pickleball and swim lessons. Pickleball takes place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. Yoga takes place every Thursday evening.
While tourists flock to Sayulita to enjoy the beaches and warm ocean water, many local women and children cannot enjoy them as they don’t know how to swim. For many, there exists the fear of drowning.
Mujeres decided to address this by offering free swim classes. Thanks to the generosity of Mujeres US board member, Liz Price, a certified swim teacher, we held nine swim classes for women and their children. In 2024, we intend to provide more classes.
A big thank you to Cheri Hasburgh and Robert Whitney for allowing us to use their swimming pools for the classes!
Women’s Retreats
As part of our plan to provide wellness opportunities to local women, Mujeres, under the guidance of psychologist Sandra Avila, has sponsored more than 8 retreats.
Each retreat has explored a different emotional challenge women face as wives and mothers.
In 2024, with your support, we hope to open a wellness center where women can receive one-on-one support from Sandra.
Workshops
In Sayulita? Join a Workshop!
Mujeres Movimiento-Sayulita is proud to present the following craft workshops as opportunities to share knowledge and skills between local women and visitors to Sayulita.
All of the workshops are taught in Spanish by female teachers with the assistance of a bilingual translator.
How it Works
Each 2-hour workshop will take place at the location of your choice, whether it be your vacation rental or your full-time residence in Sayulita. You can learn a new skill, socialize, and maybe practice a little Spanish all from the comfort of your home! Choose from the list of Mujeres Movimiento-Sayulita's unique workshops and contact us to schedule. Be sure to schedule at least two days before your desired date.
Each workshop is offered at a flat rate of $3000 per group, with a maximum of 6 people per group. All materials needed in the workshop are included in the price. A 50% deposit is required when the workshop is scheduled and the remainder at the time of the workshop. Refunds will not be offered if a group cancels within 48 hours of the workshop.
